The SM Town Museum, currently being built in Los Angeles
by SM Entertainment, the big K-pop agency, is getting great attention from US
local media. The museum is dedicated to Hallyu culture.
According to an August 13 announcement by SM
Entertainment, the Los Angeles Times, in its August 8 issue, stated, “Pop
culture phenomena generally have to wait a few decades before being enshrined in
museums, but such is the power of K-Pop that Hallyu culture is about to get a
dedicated museum in L.A.’s Koreatown.” The article added that the museum will
play the role of a bridge for K-pop to establish a permanent foothold in the
USA.”
The Hollywood Reporter also stated on its website, “SM
Entertainment is the company which made a great contribution to establish the
concept of K-pop and develop it in the ’90s. This museum is the first step for
the future of Hallyu.”
The museum will include a Korean restaurant, a space of
for entertainment, and holograms giving visitors an experience of many different
aspects of Korean cultural.
